Beginning and “aha” moment

From a young age, I found myself by the art of creation. My career began right after high school graduation when I became part of the first generation of web designers in my hometown of Mostar.

After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue a degree in Information Sciences, where I shifted my focus more towards development. During my studies, I gained a deeper understanding of programming and software engineering, which allowed me to enhance my skills and become proficient in various technological tools. Throughout my studies I worked on various freelance projects from graphic and web design to development.

The true "aha" moment came when I was working as a candymaker at Fudgery during my student exchange program in the United States. I often explain to those unfamiliar with user experience that, as a UX designer, I am much like a candymaker. A candymaker selects ingredients to create a delicious confection, while I choose design elements to build a user-friendly product. In both roles, the aim is to craft an enjoyable experience that delights those who interact with our creations.

Driven by learning from the best and sharing knowledge with others.

I actively seek out various events and conferences as a vital part of my professional development, and I also take pride in organizing them. Attending these gatherings allows me to immerse myself in new ideas, trends, and technologies within my field, while organizing events gives me the opportunity to contribute to the community and share knowledge with others.

Learning from the best has always been my greatest motivator, because allows me to build on the collective wisdom and experience of those who have come before me. By passing on what I've learned, I hope to inspire others to embark on their own journeys of growth and discovery. This commitment to learning and sharing is what fuels my passion and drives me forward every day.

“It is not important to be better than someone else, but to be better than yesterday.”

As I embarked on my journey as a UX designer, I approached each project with the same mindset I nurtured on the judo mat: a commitment to learning, discipline, and the desire to grow. Every challenge I faced in design was akin to stepping onto the tatami, where each move is an opportunity to learn and adapt.

As a judo coach, my passion for teaching blossomed. I often reflect on the first time I taught a group of young beginners. Their wide eyes and eager expressions mirrored my own excitement when I first stepped onto the mat. I realized that teaching judo was more than just demonstrating techniques; it was about instilling confidence, determination, and a continuous thirst for knowledge. With every session, I encouraged my students to question, explore, and embrace both victories and defeats as essential parts of the journey. In design, just as in judo, success depends on adaptability and learning from experience.
